Indoor air guide values for methanol

Madlen David

Summary: The German Committee on Indoor Air Guide Values establishes guide values to evaluate indoor air concentrations in terms of public health risks. For methanol, acute effects on humans are evaluated based on inhalation studies and developmental toxicity studies on laboratory animals. A short-term guide value of 40 mg/m³ and 13 mg/m³ for methanol in indoor air were determined based on these studies.

The indoor fate of terpenes: Quantification of the limonene uptake by materials

F. Thevenet et al.

Summary: This study investigates the fate of volatile organic compounds in indoor environments, with a focus on the behavior of terpenes. By studying the absorption characteristics of limonene on different surfaces, it was found that limonene exhibits varying affinities to indoor materials, providing important insights into the loss of terpenes indoors.

Learning-based CO2 concentration prediction: Application to indoor air quality control using demand-controlled ventilation

Saman Taheri et al.

Summary: Concerns over indoor air quality have grown due to the negative health effects of high bio-effluents levels on occupants. Implementing efficient HVAC systems is crucial for improving air quality. Using machine learning algorithms to forecast CO2 concentrations can enhance indoor air quality and reduce energy consumption. Real-time adjustment of ventilation rates based on specific needs can effectively provide ventilation.

TAIL, a new scheme for rating indoor environmental quality in offices and hotels undergoing deep energy renovation (EU ALDREN project)

Pawel Wargocki et al.

Summary: The EPBD mandates Member States to support energy performance upgrades of existing buildings for a healthier indoor environment. The TAIL rating scheme was developed to address the lack of a widely accepted method for rating overall IEQ. By standardizing the rating of thermal, acoustic, indoor air, and luminous environments, the scheme provides a comprehensive assessment of IEQ levels.
