Classification Criteria for Acute Posterior Multifocal Placoid Pigment Epitheliopathy

Douglas A. Jabs et al.

Summary: This study used machine learning to determine classification criteria for acute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy (APMPPE). Key criteria for APMPPE included choroidal lesions appearance and characteristic imaging on fluorescein angiography. The overall accuracy was high in both training and validation sets, with low misclassification rates for APMPPE.

Unilateral acute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy in a convalescent COVID-19 patient

Francisco Olguin-Manriquez et al.

Summary: This case report describes a Hispanic female COVID-19 convalescent patient with APMPPE, who was exposed to SARS-CoV-2. Ophthalmic evaluation and diagnostic tests indicated unilateral visual loss. Ocular changes can be observed in COVID-19 patients, and a complete ophthalmic evaluation is necessary for patients with low vision after SARS-CoV-2 infection.
