Effects of assisted reproduction techniques on breastfeeding outcomes

Summary: This study compared the breastfeeding outcomes between women who conceived through assisted reproduction techniques (ART) and those who conceived naturally. The results showed that women who conceived through ART had worse breastfeeding outcomes, with a lower rate of exclusive breastfeeding, higher breastfeeding dysfunction, and more negative feelings during breastfeeding.

Why does mode of conception affect early breastfeeding outcomes? A retrospective cohort study

Summary: This study examined the impact of different modes of conception on breastfeeding outcomes and found that infertile and sub-fertile women have higher risks of introducing formula early and shorter duration of exclusive breastfeeding compared to fertile women. This relationship is mainly mediated through multiple gestation and admission to NICU/PICU. The effects of mode of conception on breastfeeding outcomes are not significant in singleton births.

Influential Factors of Breastfeeding after Assisted Reproduction: A Spanish Cohort
