Impact of COVID-19 lockdowns on adolescent pregnancy and school dropout among secondary schoolgirls in Kenya

Summary: The study aims to measure the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on adolescent pregnancy and school dropout among school-going girls in Kenya. The findings show that girls experiencing COVID-19 containment measures had twice the risk of falling pregnant and three times the risk of school dropout compared to pre-COVID-19 learners.

Quantifying the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on gender equality on health, social, and economic indicators: a comprehensive review of data from March, 2020, to September, 2021

The findings showed that during the pandemic, women experienced greater inequality in employment, forgoing work to care for others, dropping out of school, and experiencing gender-based violence. These results indicate the need for prioritizing policies that promote women's participation in the labor force and education, enabling them to overcome the barriers they face.

Violence and abuse experiences and associated risk factors during the COVID-19 outbreak in a population-based sample of Norwegian adolescents

Summary: During the COVID-19 lockdown in spring 2020, Norwegian adolescents aged 13 to 16 reported rates of 8.2% for psychological abuse, 2.4% for physical abuse, 1.4% for sexual abuse, and 5.6% for online sexual abuse. There was no reported increase in family conflict. Prior victimization was found to be the most accurate predictor of abuse experiences during the lockdown period.

COVID-19 and the surge of child marriages: A phenomenon in Nusa Tenggara Barat, Indonesia
