The photocatalytic partial oxidation of methane to methanol has been investigated on WO3. The surface fluorination of the catalyst has given an insight on the reaction mechanism which proceeds mainly through the interaction with surface hydroxyl groups. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
