Novel Latex Microsphere Immunochromatographic Assay for Rapid Detection of Cadmium Ion in Asparagus

Naifeng Xu et al.

Summary: In this study, a rapid, sensitive, and specific detection method for cadmium ion (Cd2+) was developed by combining molecular microbiology and comparative screening of Cd2+ chelators. The optimum chelator and a monoclonal antibody with high specificity were obtained, and a latex microsphere immunochromatographic assay (LMIA) was developed for the detection of Cd2+ in asparagus. The developed LMIA showed great potential for monitoring Cd2+ in asparagus and vegetable samples.
