A novel reactive adsorption desulfurization (RADS) Ni/MnO catalyst was prepared by an impregnating method and its RADS performance was compared with that of Ni/ZnO catalyst. The breakthrough time of Ni/MnOx is 1.5 times longer than that of Ni/ZnO. Ni/MnO catalyst presents a better ultra-deep HDS ability than Ni/ZnO catalyst Characterizations by BET, H-2-TPR, XRD and HRTEM demonstrated that NiO has a high dispersion on MnO particles; Ni/MnO has not only higher S-BET area but also smaller particle size. These characteristics make Ni/MnO a better RADS catalyst. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
