Osteoprotective Effects of Loganic Acid on Osteoblastic and Osteoclastic Cells and Osteoporosis-Induced Mice

Eunkuk Park et al.

Summary: Loganic acid extracted from Gentiana lutea L. root extract has shown anti-osteoporotic effects by promoting osteoblastic differentiation and inhibiting osteoclast differentiation. In vivo experiments on ovariectomized mice have demonstrated that loganic acid prevents bone mineral density loss and improves bone structural properties in osteoporotic model mice. These results suggest that loganic acid may be a potential therapeutic candidate for the treatment of osteoporosis.

Progress of Signaling Pathways, Stress Pathways and Epigenetics in the Pathogenesis of Skeletal Fluorosis

Lichun Qiao et al.

Summary: Fluorine, considered essential but controversial for human health, can lead to skeletal fluorosis with symptoms of osteosclerosis and degenerative changes in joint cartilage due to long-term excessive intake. Research focuses on signaling pathways, stress pathways, and epigenetics for understanding the pathogenesis of skeletal fluorosis.

Rictor Is a Novel Regulator of TRAF6/TRAF3 in Osteoclasts

Song Xu et al.

Summary: Rictor plays a crucial role in regulating TRAF6 and TRAF3 expression in osteoclasts, impacting osteoclast numbers and bone mass in mice. It disrupts TRAF6 stability and inhibits TRAF3 degradation through mechanisms involving autophagic block. Interactions between Rictor and TRAF6 suggest a novel link between mTOR complexes and TRAF protein levels.

Tungsten Increases Sex-Specific Osteoclast Differentiation in Murine Bone

Hsiang Chou et al.

Summary: Tungsten increases osteoclast numbers in male mice, but not female mice, and enhances differentiation into tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP)-positive mononucleated osteoclasts. While tungsten alone does not affect osteoclast differentiation, it does increase differentiation under RANKL induction.
