Predictor feedback and integrator backstepping of linear systems with distributed unbounded delays

Xiang Xu et al.

Summary: This article explores the control problem of linear strict-feedback systems with an infinite-delayed integrator, demonstrating the effectiveness of the predictor feedback combined with the backstepping design in solving control problems of systems with unbounded delays. The stability theorem developed for systems with unbounded delays is applied to prove the exponential stability of the resulting closed loop system. Simulation examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the controller.

State Estimation for Lithium-Ion Batteries With Phase Transition Materials Via Boundary Observers

Shumon Koga et al.

Summary: Lithium iron phosphate is a common active material in lithium-ion batteries, undergoing phase transitions during normal charge and discharge. A novel boundary observer using the backstepping method for PDEs is derived for estimating the concentration of lithium ions and moving boundary radius in phase transition materials. The gap between this observer and a complete SoC estimation algorithm for lithium-ion batteries with phase transition materials is discussed.

Cooperative output regulation for a network of parabolic systems with varying parameters

Joachim Deutscher

Summary: This paper addresses the cooperative output regulation problem for a network of agents with different dynamics described by parabolic PDEs. A networked controller is designed to achieve output synchronization for identical finite-dimensional reference models, and local output feedback regulators are designed for the parabolic agents to solve the cooperative output regulation problem. The results show that exponential convergence is ensured for the resulting multi-agent system.

EVENT-TRIGGERED GAIN SCHEDULING OF REACTION-DIFFUSION PDEs

Iasson Karafyllis et al.

Summary: This paper focuses on the boundary stabilization of 1D reaction-diffusion PDEs with a time- and space-varying reaction coefficient using the backstepping approach. The gains of the boundary control are scheduled under two event-triggered mechanisms to avoid Zeno behavior and guarantee the well-posedness and exponential stability of the closed-loop system. Numerical simulations are provided to demonstrate the results.
