Efficiency of Endosonic Blue, Eddy, Ultra X and Endoactivator in the removal of calcium hydroxide paste from root canals

Yahya Guven et al.

Summary: In the removal of calcium hydroxide from apical grooves in root canal walls, EDDY and Ultra X were more effective compared to Endosonic Blue and EndoActivator. However, no technique could achieve complete calcium hydroxide removal.

Multispecies biofilm removal by XP-endo Finisher and passive ultrasonic irrigation: A scanning electron microscopy study

Abel Teves et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effect of XP-endo Finisher (XPF) and passive ultrasonic irrigation (PUI) on multispecies biofilm removal using SEM. The results showed that both XPF and PUI significantly improved biofilm removal compared to conventional syringe irrigation (CSI).

Physico-Chemical Properties of Calcium-Silicate vs. Resin Based Sealers-A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Laboratory-Based Studies

Viresh Chopra et al.

Summary: This systematic review compared the physico-chemical properties of calcium silicate-based sealers and epoxy resin sealers using a single-cone obturation technique in permanent teeth. The results showed that there was no significant difference in adaptation to root canal walls between the two sealers, but calcium silicate-based sealers had significantly lower void volume values. The pooled analysis also found significant differences in apical microleakage, but non-significant mean differences in fracture resistance and push-out bond strength.

Evaluation of smear layer and debris removal by stepwise intraoperative activation (SIA) of sodium hypochlorite

G. Plotino et al.

Summary: The stepwise intraoperative activation (SIA) technique showed better efficiency in removing debris and smear layer from the middle and apical thirds of root canals, and passive ultrasonic irrigation (PUI) and EDDY were more effective than EndoActivator (EA) in the apical third.

Impact of irrigation protocols with some chelators and mechanical agitation on intratubular decontamination

Victor Feliz Pedrinha et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the efficacy of different irrigation solutions and agitation steps on decontaminating infected root canals. NaOCl+EDTA-T exhibited the best intratubular antibacterial activity, especially for canals treated with XP-Endo Finisher agitation.
