Increasing Tibetan Plateau terrestrial evapotranspiration primarily driven by precipitation

Ning Ma et al.

Summary: This study investigates the terrestrial evapotranspiration (ET) from the Tibetan Plateau (TP) using a water-carbon coupled model. It finds that the TP-averaged ET has increased, primarily due to increased precipitation. However, the driving factors for ET vary across different regions of the TP.

Summary: Land surface temperature (LST) retrieval over the Tibetan Plateau (TP) is improved using a random forest regression (RFR) model and an improved generalized single-channel (SC) algorithm. The LST results derived from these methods show smaller root mean square errors compared to other products.

Dynamics of Evapotranspiration and Variations in Different Land-Cover Regions over the Tibetan Plateau during 1961-2014

Shan Lin et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the spatiotemporal changes and driving factors of evapotranspiration over the Tibetan Plateau from 1961 to 2014. It found a significant increasing trend in annual evapotranspiration, with the most notable changes in the southeastern part of the plateau. Different land cover types also showed varying responses to seasonal changes in evapotranspiration.

An Enhanced MOD16 Evapotranspiration Model for the Tibetan Plateau During the Unfrozen Season

Ling Yuan et al.

Summary: Evapotranspiration (ET) is crucial in the water and energy cycles of land surface processes. An improved algorithm for ETs with soil moisture and texture (SMT) and an optimized ETc based on the MOD16 model (MOD16-STM) were proposed for cold, arid, and semiarid regions of the Tibetan Plateau (TP), resulting in more accurate estimations of variations in ET. The MOD16-STM showed closer estimations to observations compared to the MOD16 and SWI-PT models, indicating its potential for accurate ET estimates and land surface model improvement in the TP region.

Long-term variations in actual evapotranspiration over the Tibetan Plateau

Cunbo Han et al.

Summary: This study estimated multiyear (2001-2018) monthly ETa and its spatial distribution on the Tibetan Plateau (TP) using meteorological data and satellite products. Results showed a significant increase in annual ETa in the eastern sector of the TP and a decrease in the western sector, with pronounced decreases in spring and summer seasons. The estimated ETa product provides useful insights into changes in energy and water cycle on the TP.
