Chemical abundances of the Typhon stellar stream

Summary: We provide the first high-resolution chemical abundances of seven stars in the recently discovered high-energy stream Typhon, which has apocentres r greater than or similar to 100 kpc. The chemical abundances of Typhon stars resemble those of a dwarf galaxy rather than a globular cluster, with a dispersion in metallicity and no evidence of multiple stellar populations. The high-alpha abundances suggest a short star formation duration for Typhon, but this contradicts expectations for the distant Milky Way halo and the presence of delayed r-process enrichment. Possible scenarios to explain this contradiction include dynamical interactions, late-time star formation, or group pre-processing before infall into the Milky Way.

The Complexity of the Cetus Stream Unveiled from the Fusion of STREAMFINDER and StarGO

Summary: In this study, two stream-searching tools, STREAMFINDER and StarGO, were used to detect stellar debris belonging to the Cetus stream system in the Gaia EDR3 data. The study identified the southern extensions of the northern Cetus stream as the Palca stream and a new southern stream. Additionally, the study confirmed the association of the Cetus system with several other streams and provided insights into the characteristics of these systems.

Typhon: A Polar Stream from the Outer Halo Raining through the Solar Neighborhood

Summary: We report the discovery of a new polar stream in the Gala DR3 astrometric and spectroscopic catalog. This structure is found as an overdensity in action space and is unique in its extremely large apocenter distance while still being detected as a coherent moving structure in the solar neighborhood. The existence of this structure suggests the presence of other dwarf galaxy fragments lurking in the outer halo.

Antaeus: A Retrograde Group of Tidal Debris in the Milky Way's Disk Plane

This structure is most likely the wide remnant of a tidal stream from a disrupted ancient dwarf galaxy, and it exhibits similarities with the Sequoia merging event while also possessing unique characteristics within the Sequoia dynamical groups.

The Pristine survey - XVI. The metallicity of 26 stellar streams around the Milky Way detected with the STREAMFINDER in Gaia EDR3

Summary: This study uses photometric metallicities from the Pristine survey to investigate the existence and determine the metallicities of stellar streams found using the STREAMFINDER algorithm on Gaia Early Data Release 3. All 26 streams in Pristine show clear metallicity distributions, supporting the authenticity of these structures and the effectiveness of STREAMFINDER and Pristine in finding and measuring metallicities. The study identifies six candidate structures with coherent phase-space and metallicity signals that are likely to be stellar streams. Most of the studied streams are very metal-poor, potentially originating from low-luminosity dwarf galaxies or globular clusters with significantly lower metallicity than any known Milky Way globular cluster. The study highlights the importance of high-quality photometric metallicities in utilizing Gaia data for Galactic Archeology studies, enabling a closer examination of the early stages of our Galaxy's formation and its stellar halo constituents.

Extensive characterization of the solutions' statistical properties is provided, including the estimated angular power spectrum of parallax bias from quasars.

Probing the nature of dark matter with accreted globular cluster streams

Orbital Clustering Identifies the Origins of Galactic Stellar Streams

The Galaxy Progenitors of Stellar Streams around Milky Way-mass Galaxies in the FIRE Cosmological Simulations

Summary: Simulated stellar streams from disrupted dwarf galaxies can record the accretion history of their host galaxy, and there are no significant differences between streams in different environments. Simulated satellite galaxies are good proxies for stellar stream progenitors, and different progenitors have varying time scale orders depending on their stellar masses. The main factor controlling the rate of phase mixing of tidal streams from satellite galaxies in MW-mass hosts is the nonadiabatic evolution of the host potential. Other factors such as progenitor mass and orbital circularity show little correlation with the phase-mixing timescales of streams.
