Novel Gene Regulation in Normal and Abnormal Spermatogenesis

Li Du et al.

Summary: This review article discusses the roles and mechanisms of novel genes in regulating normal and abnormal spermatogenesis, focusing on their functions and signaling pathways in the proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis of spermatogonial stem cells and the meiosis of spermatocytes and other germ cells. Additionally, it summarizes gene regulation in abnormal testicular microenvironments by different cell types. Future directions for investigating molecular mechanisms underlying human spermatogenesis are also outlined, providing new insights for gene therapy of male infertility.
