Open anatomical glenoid reconstruction with an iliac crest bone autograft effectively resolves off-track Hill-Sachs lesions to on-track lesions

Joel Locher et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate whether iliac bone autografts with screw fixation could transform off-track Hill-Sachs lesions into on-track lesions in patients with dynamic anteroinferior instability. The results showed that the off-track lesions were successfully transformed into on-track lesions after 6 weeks of surgery and remained stable during the final follow-up. The study also observed bony remodeling processes over time, indicating a slight decrease in glenoid surface area.

Long-term outcomes of arthroscopic Bankart repair and Hill-Sachs remplissage for bipolar bone defects

Natalia Martinez-Catalan et al.

Summary: The long-term results of arthroscopic Bankart repair and Hill-Sachs remplissage (BHSR) were evaluated in patients with bipolar bone defects with less than 20% of glenoid bone loss (GBL). The study found that the majority of patients had good to excellent outcomes at the last follow-up.

Determining the Minimal Clinically Important Difference on the Oxford Shoulder Instability Score in Patients Undergoing Arthroscopic Bankart Repair for Shoulder Instability

Wei Sheng Foong et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the minimal clinically important difference (MCID) of the Oxford Shoulder Instability Score (OSIS) after arthroscopic Bankart repair. The results showed that patients with recurrent shoulder instability without significant bone loss who underwent primary arthroscopic Bankart repair and had at least an 8.6-point improvement on their OSIS experienced a clinically significant change at 1 year postoperatively.

Remplissage Yields Similar 2-Year Outcomes, Fewer Complications, and Low Recurrence Compared to Latarjet Across a Wide Range of Preoperative Glenoid Bone Loss

Jeffrey L. Horinek et al.

Summary: This study compared the functional outcomes, return to sport, satisfaction, recurrence, and complications between primary arthroscopic Bankart repair with remplissage (ABR) and primary Latarjet. The results showed that ABR resulted in similar or superior functional outcomes, higher return to sport for overhead and contact athletes, fewer complications, and comparable recurrence rates compared to Latarjet, despite greater bone loss in the ABR group.

Arthroscopic iliac crest bone grafting in recurrent anterior shoulder instability: minimum 5-year clinical and radiologic follow-up

Elisabeth Boehm et al.

Summary: Arthroscopic iliac crest bone-grafting for anatomic glenoid reconstruction in patients with recurrent anterior shoulder instability shows satisfactory clinical and radiologic outcomes in mid- to long-term follow-up. One patient experienced postoperative redislocation, necessitating anatomic reconstruction of the pear-shaped glenoid configuration.

Does an Off-Track Hill-Sachs Lesion That Is Misclassified as Non-Engaging Affect Outcomes From Bankart Repair Alone Compared With Bankart Repair Combined With Remplissage?

Yun-Jae Lee et al.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed patients who underwent arthroscopic Bankart repair alone or with remplissage, finding that 8.1% of patients with nonengaging Hill-Sachs lesions actually had off-track lesions, and intraoperative manual assessment was inferior to 3D CT scan in determining off-track defects.

Excellent Clinical and Radiological Midterm Outcomes for the Management of Recurrent Anterior Shoulder Instability by All-Arthroscopic Modified Eden-Hybinette Procedure Using Iliac Crest Autograft and Double-Pair Button Fixation System: 3-Year Clinical Case Series With No Loss to Follow-Up

Grigorios Avramidis et al.

Summary: The all-arthroscopic modified Eden-Hybinette procedure is safe and results in excellent clinical and radiological midterm outcomes for patients with recurrent anterior shoulder instability. The technique effectively restores glenoid bone defects and preserves normal shoulder anatomy, with no recurrences, improvements in functional scores, and optimal graft healing and positioning.
