Effects of dietary arginine on growth, anti-oxidative enzymes, biomarkers of immunity, amino acid metabolism and resistance to Vibrio parahaemolyticus challenge in abalone Haliotis discus hannai

Haixia Yu et al.

Summary: The study showed that the optimal dietary arginine level for abalone growth is 1.64%, which can increase protein content and enhance immune function. Additionally, a higher arginine level (1.68%) can improve anti-oxidative capacity and disease resistance of abalone.

Replacement of dietary fish meal with Clostridium autoethanogenum protein on growth performance, digestion, mTOR pathways and muscle quality of abalone Haliotis discus hannai

Zhenhua Wu et al.

Summary: The present study evaluated the replacement of dietary fish meal with Clostridium autoethanogenum protein on abalone. The results showed that complete replacement of fish meal did not significantly affect the growth of abalone. However, replacing 25% of the fish meal with the protein improved growth performance, digestion, and muscle quality in abalone.

Lipid deposition in abalone Haliotis discus hannai affected by dietary lipid levels through AMPK α 2/PPAR α and JNK/mTOR/SREBP-1c pathway

Yanlin Guo et al.

Summary: The deposition of lipids in abalone is influenced by dietary lipid levels through the regulation of AMPK alpha 2/PPAR alpha and JNK/mTOR/SREBP-1c pathways. Higher and lower dietary lipid levels both have different effects on the expression of genes involved in fatty acid transport, lipolysis, and de-novo lipogenesis in the hepatopancreas and muscle of abalone.

Dietary DHA/EPA ratio affects growth, tissue fatty acid profiles and expression of genes involved in lipid metabolism in mud crab Scylla paramamosain supplied with appropriate n-3 LC-PUFA at two lipid levels

Xuexi Wang et al.

Summary: The optimal dietary DHA/EPA ratios for mud crab S. paramamosa were estimated to be 2.2 and 1.2 when supplied with optimal n-3 LC-PUFA at 7% and 12% lipid, respectively. The DHA/EPA ratio affected weight gain, growth rate, lipid content, fatty acid composition, and gene expression levels in the mud crabs. Differences in dietary lipid levels also influenced the crabs' response to the DHA/EPA ratio.
