Numerical study on the multi-layered magnetocaloric regenerators

Lifen Yuan et al.

Summary: This study investigates the cooling performance of a multi-layered active magnetic regenerator filled with first-order magnetic phase transition materials using a one-dimensional transient model. The type of materials, the number of layers, and the transition temperature interval between layers are crucial parameters that influence the cooling performance. A new graphical tool is proposed to properly size the length proportion of each layer in the regenerator.

Influence of timing between magnetic field and fluid flow in a rotary magnetic refrigerator

Zhenxing Li et al.

Summary: The timing between magnetic field profile and fluid flow profile significantly affects the performance of a rotary magnetic refrigerator. It was found that, under the same utilization factor and frequency, the longer the flow time, the larger the temperature span. Despite being limited by motor power, a relatively high cooling power was still achieved.
