Spatially Confined Synthesis of SnSe Spheres Encapsulated in N, Se Dual-Doped Carbon Networks toward Fast and Durable Sodium Storage

Summary: In this study, SnSe spheres embedded in polydopamine-derived N, Se dual-doped carbon networks (SnSe@NSC) were fabricated using a spatially confined reaction approach. The carbon shell in the composite can buffer the volume changes and ensure strong coupling interaction with the SnSe core through Sn-C bonds, resulting in improved conductivity and structural integrity. The N, Se codoping in the carbon shell enhances the adsorption energy and transfer ability of Na+, leading to high electrochemical performance of the SnSe@NSC anode in sodium ion batteries.
