Adsorption properties of NH3, NO, and O2 molecules over the FeO (100) and oxygen-defected FeO (100) surfaces: a density functional theory study

Chaoyue Xie et al.

Summary: This study investigated the adsorption properties of NH3, NO, and O-2 molecules on FeO (100) surface and oxygen-defected FeO (100) surface using density functional theory calculation. The Fe-top site was found to be the most active for adsorption, while oxygen defects slightly decreased the adsorption performance of NH3 and NO. Additionally, synergistic effects were observed for the co-adsorption of O-2 + NH3 or O-2 + NO on the FeO (100) surface.

Facile homogeneous precipitation method to prepare MnO2 with high performance in catalytic oxidation of ethyl acetate

Tingting Pan et al.

Summary: A facile homogeneous precipitation method driven by synchronous reactions of urea hydrolysis and potassium permanganate reduction was proposed for preparation of α-MnO2 catalysts. Different morphologies of pure α-MnO2 nanostructures were obtained by tuning the precipitation conditions. The physiochemical properties of the catalysts were significantly influenced by the precipitation temperature and time.

The correlation of NO chemisorption adsorption with its directly catalytic dissociation pathway on β-MnO2(110) and (101) surfaces

Xiao Tan et al.

Summary: The study investigated the adsorption and dissociation pathways of NO on different crystal surfaces of beta-MnO2, with results indicating that NO prefers to adsorb on the beta-MnO2(110) surface, showing stronger interaction and more charge transfer compared to the (101) surface. The lower energy barrier for NO dissociation on beta-MnO2(110) is attributed to bridge adsorption of NO and increased electron transfer, facilitating N-O bond breaking.

Effect of doping Cr on NH3 adsorption and NO oxidation over the FexOy/AC surface: A DFT-D study

Chaoyue Xie et al.

Summary: Activated carbon supported iron-based catalysts (FexOy/AC) exhibit high deNO(x) efficiency at low temperature, with chromium (Cr) doping significantly enhancing the catalyst activity. The specific molecular-level effects of Cr doping on FexOy/AC surface remain unclear and were investigated using a DFT-D3 method in this study. Results showed that the synergistic effect of Cr-Fe bimetal improved the adsorption properties of NH3 and NO on the FexOy/AC surfaces, promoting deNO(x) reactions.

Oxygen Defect Engineering of β-MnO2 Catalysts via Phase Transformation for Selective Catalytic Reduction of NO

Runnong Yang et al.

Summary: The authors obtained oxygen defect-rich beta-MnO2 through a crystal phase transformation process, which showed high efficiency in low-temperature selective catalytic reduction of NO with NH3. The introduction of oxygen defects enhances the adsorption properties for reactants and decreases the energy barriers of NH2 formation, contributing to the high efficiency of low-temperature SCR activity.

A DFT-D study on the reaction mechanism of selective catalytic reduction of NO by NH3 over the Fe2O3/Ni(111) surface

Chaoyue Xie et al.

Summary: The gas adsorption properties and NH3-SCR reaction mechanism over the Fe2O3/Ni(111) surface were studied using DFT-D, revealing that Fe2O3 cluster exhibits better gas adsorption performance than the Ni carrier. NH3-SCR reactions mainly follow the Eley-Rideal mechanism, with NHNO* dissociation releasing energy and O-2 reacting with NO to form energetically favorable NO2. Additionally, the high NOx conversion in fast-SCR is attributed to the easier reaction of NO2 with NH2 compared to NO.

Adsorption mechanism of NH3, NO, and O2 molecules over the FexOy/AC catalyst surface: a DFT-D3 study

Chaoyue Xie et al.

Summary: In this study, models of FexOy/AC were built to investigate the adsorption mechanisms of NH3, NO, and O-2 molecules on their surfaces using DFT-D3 study. It was found that Fe2O3 cluster has the best adsorption property for NH3, leading to NH3-SCR deNO(x) reaction. Additionally, three types of adsorption products were observed when NO is adsorbed on the FexOy/AC surface.
