A high-performance adsorbent of 2D Laponite in-situ coated on 3D diatomite for advanced adsorption of cationic dye

Dai Nan et al.

Summary: In this study, a one-step hydrothermal method was used to synthesize two-dimensional layered Laponite nanosheets on the three-dimensional biological template diatomite. The adsorption performance of the synthesized Laponite@diatomite nano-adsorbent for cationic dye removal was investigated. The results showed that La@D-0.1 had the highest adsorption efficiency and exhibited excellent adsorption capability for methylene blue solution. This work provides a novel idea for the synthesis of an economical and ideal nano-adsorbent for cationic dyes and its potential application in wastewater purification.

Self-templating construction of flower-like mesoporous magnesium silicate composites from sepiolite for high-efficiency adsorption of aflatoxin B1

Yan Li et al.

Summary: In this study, flower-like mesoporous magnesium silicate composites (MMSCs) were successfully synthesized using a self-templating strategy. The microstructures and specific surface areas of MMSCs were investigated, and it was found that the synthesized MMSCs exhibited a high adsorption capacity for aflatoxin B1 (AFB1). The results indicated that the flower morphology and mesoporous structure of MMSCs provided a large surface area with multiple available adsorption sites, enabling effective bonding with AFB1.
