Experimental and Theoretical Studies on Optical Properties of Tetra(Imidazole) of Palladium (II) Phthalocyanine

Abdelmajid Timoumi et al.

Summary: In this study, the optical properties of tetra(imidazole) of palladium phthalocyanine (PdPc(Im)(4)) in solution and thin film forms were investigated using thermal evaporation technique. The optical band gap was evaluated using UV-Vis spectroscopy and the Tauc graph method. Time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) was used to simulate the UV-Vis absorption spectrum in solution phase. The experimental and DFT-simulated values of the band gap were compared, and a strategy for regulating the energy band gap was proposed. The surface study of the thin films on FTO substrates showed good homogeneity.
