New Insight into the Gas Phase Reaction Dynamics in Pulsed Laser Deposition of Multi-Elemental Oxides

Xiang Yao et al.

Summary: The gas-phase reaction dynamics and kinetics play a crucial role in laser induced plasma. This study reveals that the expansion dynamics in O-2 differ from those in Ar due to the formation of MO+ species. Furthermore, a preferred kinetic energy range of up to 5 eV is observed for chemical reactions leading to the formation of MO species in an expanding plasma under high oxygen background pressure.

Growth of LixLaySrzMnO3 thin films by pulsed laser deposition: complex relation between thin film composition and deposition parameters

G. Bimashofer et al.

Summary: LixLaySrzMnO3 thin films of various compositions were grown using pulsed laser deposition, studying the effects of deposition temperature, target-to-substrate distance, and deposition pressure on the film's composition. The experiments also showed that lithium loss is likely when growing multi-elemental oxide thin films, but specific growth conditions and different target compositions can help achieve the desired film composition.

In-situ plasma monitoring by optical emission spectroscopy during pulsed laser deposition of doped Lu2O3

S. Irimiciuc et al.

Summary: The passage discusses the monitoring of plasma during pulsed laser deposition (PLD) and analyzes the spatial distribution of individual elements and the formation process of LuO molecules through optical emission spectroscopy. By controlling doping and O-2 pressure, the energy of ejected particles can be adjusted, influencing the proportion of molecular and atomic domination in plasma energy. The resulting film properties show a strong correlation with the dynamical regime of the plasma and their structural properties.

Towards Scalable Large-Area Pulsed Laser Deposition

Zakhar Vakulov et al.

Summary: This paper presents a methodology for calculating the distribution profile of film thickness on large diameter substrates in pulsed laser deposition, allowing for increased film thickness uniformity. Experimental verification showed a discrepancy of less than 8%, with modeling results providing recommendations for manufacturing uniform thickness films.
