Quantitative Analysis of Iron Rust Using Terahertz Time-Domain Spectroscopy

Ying Li et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel and non-destructive method for quantitatively analyzing the composition of iron oxide mixtures, based on terahertz time-domain spectroscopy and effective medium theory. The utility of the method is demonstrated by analyzing the terahertz refractive index of various samples, and an effective medium model is constructed for binary mixtures of hematite and magnetite. The results show good agreement between theoretical predictions and experimental measurements, with a relative difference of less than 10.0%.

Deep learning aided quantitative analysis of anti-tuberculosis fixed-dose combinatorial formulation by terahertz spectroscopy

Jie Liang et al.

Summary: Anti-tuberculosis fixed-dose combinatorial formulation (FDCs) is an effective drug for tuberculosis treatment. Accurate detection of active component contents in the FDCs is crucial for quality control. In this study, a quantitative calibration model based on convolutional neural networks (CNN) and terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) was developed for the accurate detection of active component contents. The results showed that CNN outperformed partial least squares regression (PLSR) in predicting the contents, making it an ideal modeling method for quantitative analysis of FDCs.

Dissociation and Recombination Processes in Lactose Monohydrate Detected by THz Time-Domain Spectroscopy

Muhammad Adnan Alvi et al.

Summary: This study utilized THz absorption spectroscopy to investigate the effect of heating on dehydration and hydration in alpha-lactose monohydrate. Distinctive absorption spectra were observed after different heating durations, showing clear differences between alpha-lactose monohydrate and anhydrous alpha-lactose. The absorption peaks at specific THz frequencies and the linear relationship between water content and absorption coefficient were studied during the dehydration process.

Study on corrosion mechanism and the risk of the shale gas gathering pipelines

Kexi Liao et al.

Summary: Corrosion and perforation accidents are common in shale gas gathering and transportation pipelines, leading to serious economic losses. The corrosion rate is accelerated due to various factors, with the corrosion sensitive areas mainly located at the low-lying and uphill sections of the pipelines. Through multiphase flow simulation and magnetic flux leakage detection, the characteristics and distribution of pipeline corrosion defects can be identified.
