Reduced-Space Relevance Vector Machine for Adaptive Electrical Capacitance Volume Tomography

Daniel Ospina Acero et al.

Summary: In this paper, we propose an efficient synthetic electrode selection strategy for Adaptive Electrical Capacitance Volume Tomography (AECVT) based on the Adaptive Relevance Vector Machine (ARVM) method. The strategy allows for obtaining synthetic electrode configurations that can significantly decrease the image reconstruction uncertainty for the spatial distribution of the permittivity in the region of interest. By using the Reduced ARVM method, good image reconstruction and low uncertainty levels can be achieved in AECVT with considerably fewer measurements.

Adaptive relevance vector machine combined with Markov-chain-based importance sampling for reliability analysis

Yanzhong Wang et al.

Summary: A new reliability method, RVM-MIS, is proposed in this research by combining relevance vector machine and Markov-chain-based importance sampling. The method improves computational efficiency in evaluating the failure probability of engineering systems with complex implicit performance functions. Relevance vector machine provides predicted values and variances, and active learning functions can be applied to improve accuracy. Markov-chain-based importance sampling is used to generate important samples, which are then predicted by RVM to obtain failure probability, reducing computation time significantly.

Active learning relevant vector machine for reliability analysis

T. Z. Li et al.

Summary: An adaptive relevant vector machine developed within a probabilistic Bayesian learning framework is combined with Monte Carlo simulation for efficient and accurate reliability analysis. A new active learning function is proposed to search for the best next point for training sample enrichment, considering mis-prediction probability and spatial locations. The proposed method obtains highly accurate failure probability predictions with few original model evaluations, making it recommended for structural reliability analyses in engineering practice.

A Kriging-assisted sampling method for reliability analysis of structures with hybrid uncertainties

Mi Xiao et al.

Summary: In this paper, an efficient Kriging-assisted SSIS method is proposed for reliability analysis of structures with mixed random and interval variables, which improves computational efficiency. The method utilizes a Kriging metamodel to substitute the actual performance function and employs an update strategy based on measuring the possibility of correctly predicting the sign of performance function. The proposed method demonstrates computational efficiency, accuracy, and robustness through comparison with existing methods in the reliability analysis of six examples.
