A comprehensive review on oxygen transport membranes: Development history, current status, and future directions

Wei Bai et al.

Summary: Comparative analysis shows that inorganic dense ceramic-based oxygen transport membranes (OTMs) have irreplaceable advantages over traditional oxygen production technologies, especially in terms of oxygen purity and energy consumption. The oxygen transport mechanism and materials of OTMs are further elaborated, and their applications in oxygen-enriched combustion and membrane reactors are discussed. Challenges and future directions are analyzed based on potential industrial design directions and competitive technologies of OTMs.

Barium Titanate as a Highly Stable Oxygen Permeable Membrane Reactor for Hydrogen Production from Thermal Water Splitting

Guanghu He et al.

Summary: A novel BaMg0.1Zr0.05Ti0.85O3-δ (BMZ-Ti) perovskite membrane with superior chemical stability and environment-responsive mixed conductivity was synthesized, showing an oxygen permeation flux larger than 0.3 mL min(-1) cm(-2) under a H2O/(CH4-CO2) gradient. The BMZ-Ti membrane has the potential to be used as an oxygen permeable membrane for efficient hydrogen production from water.
