Prognostic impact of perineural invasion in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma: multicentre study

Tao Wei et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of perineural invasion (PNI) on tumor recurrence and survival in patients with resected intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC). The results showed that PNI was a strong independent predictor of tumor recurrence and long-term survival, even among patients with early-stage disease.

Liver Transplantation for Unresectable Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma: The Role of Sequencing Genetic Profiling

Salvatore Gruttadauria et al.

Summary: Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA) is a rare and aggressive liver tumor, with increasing incidence and mortality rates even after radical resection. Recent attention has focused on the disease, supporting liver transplantation as a viable treatment option. Genetic mutations activating signaling pathways have been linked to iCCA tumorigenesis, with a strong association found between Notch pathway mutations and tumor size. Efforts in molecular analysis may improve diagnostic capabilities and treatment protocols for better long-term survival in iCCA and HCC-iCCA patients.

Prognostic Impact of Perioperative CA19-9 Levels in Patients with Resected Perihilar Cholangiocarcinoma

Jong Woo Lee et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the predictive value of changes in CA19-9 levels for patients undergoing curative resection for perihilar cholangiocarcinoma. It was found that patients in the non-normalization group had significantly worse overall survival, and a high postoperative CA19-9 level was identified as an independent prognostic factor in resected perihilar cholangiocarcinoma patients.

Liquid biopsy in cholangiocarcinoma: Current status and future perspectives

Gianluca Rompianesi et al.

Summary: Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a heterogeneous group of tumors with complex diagnosis, management, and poor prognosis. Liquid biopsy (LB) offers a less invasive and serially repeatable way to detect tumor biomarkers from fluid samples, providing real-time monitoring of tumor genetic profile or therapy response.

Management of Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma

Sudha Kodali et al.

Summary: Cholangiocarcinoma, a tumor arising from differentiation of cholangiocytes, can develop anywhere in the biliary tree. Early diagnosis allows for surgical resection, while late-stage intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma cases may require chemotherapy, locoregional therapies, and radiation as treatment options.

Current Advances in Basic and Translational Research of Cholangiocarcinoma

Keisaku Sato et al.

Summary: Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a highly malignant biliary tract cancer with limited treatment options and poor prognosis due to its heterogeneity. Recent studies have focused on developing new experimental models and techniques, such as patient-derived xenografts and CCA organoids, to better understand and treat this aggressive cancer. Additionally, novel biomarkers, including non-coding RNAs, have been identified for potential diagnostic and therapeutic applications in CCA patients.

Machine learning in the prediction of cancer therapy

Raihan Rafique et al.

Summary: Resistance to cancer therapy is a major cause of treatment failure and death, with current treatment plans depending on cancer subtypes and genetic mutations. While predictive models using artificial intelligence show promise, challenges remain in building clinically usable models due to a lack of clinically relevant pharmacogenomic data.
