Analysis of biochemical parameters in canine fetal fluids during the second half of pregnancy

S. Tal et al.

Summary: This study aimed to characterize and compare the biochemical parameters of fetal fluids collected from healthy pregnant bitches in mid pregnancy. The study found that an algorithm was able to accurately predict the origin of the fluid, with a high level of certainty. This research provides valuable insights into the composition of fetal fluids during gestation and can contribute to future studies in this field.

Canine Neonatal Assessment by Vitality Score, Amniotic Fluid, Urine, and Umbilical Cord Blood Analysis of Glucose, Lactate, and Cortisol: Possible Influence of Parturition Type?

Tanja Plavec et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of different parturition types on vitality, weight gains, and survival in newborn puppies. The results showed that although puppies from the emergency cesarean section group had the highest cortisol concentration, their Apgar score at 5 minutes postpartum was comparable to the vaginal parturition group. The type of parturition had no significant impact on puppies' weight gains or survival, but supportive treatment was provided for non-vital puppies.

Usefulness of Maternal and Fetal Parameters for the Prediction of Parturition Date in Dogs

Giulia Siena et al.

Summary: Various parameters and formulas are listed in scientific literature for predicting the parturition date in dogs, with accuracy affected by factors like pregnancy phase, litter, and maternal size. The selection of appropriate parameters for ultrasound assessment is crucial for accurate prediction, but the many influencing factors pose challenges in their interpretation. This review analyzes parameters for predicting parturition date in dogs, emphasizing the importance of considering fetal maturity as a factor and evaluating its readiness for parturition alongside other parameters.
