Ruthenium(II)-Tris-pyrazolylmethane Complexes Inhibit Cancer Cell Growth by Disrupting Mitochondrial Calcium Homeostasis

Jakub Cervinka et al.

Summary: A new ruthenium(II) complex containing a tridentate tris(1-pyrazolyl)methane ligand was synthesized and reacted with a series of organic molecules to form novel complexes. These complexes showed promising anti-cancer activity and selectivity toward cancer cells, with the mechanism of action being the inhibition of mitochondrial calcium intake. The complexes exhibited good solubility in water and could accumulate effectively in cancer cells.
