Versatile Palladium-Catalyzed Approach to Acyl Fluorides and Carbonylations by Combining Visible Light- and Ligand-Driven Operations

Yi Liu et al.

Summary: We have developed a general palladium-catalyzed method to synthesize acyl fluorides from different types of compounds. Mechanistic analysis suggests that the reaction proceeds through the combination of visible light photoexcitation of Pd(0) with a ligand-favored reductive elimination, resulting in a unidirectional catalytic cycle. Coupling this catalytic method with nucleophilic reactions allows for a broad range of carbonylation reactions, including the synthesis of highly functionalized products.

Pd(0)/Blue Light Promoted Carboiodination Reaction - Evidence for Reversible C-I Bond Formation via a Radical Pathway

Austin D. Marchese et al.

Summary: A Pd(0)/blue light catalyzed carboiodination reaction has been reported, which generates a variety of iodinated hetero- and carbocycles. The reaction system is simple and stable, and shows good tolerance towards sensitive functional groups, delivering products in high yields. Experimental evidence supports the reversible C-I bond formation via a single electron mechanism.

Shining Visible Light on Reductive Elimination: Acridine-Pd-Catalyzed Cross-Coupling of Aryl Halides with Carboxylic Acids

Naoyuki Toriumi et al.

Summary: This study reports the design of a photosensitizing ligand for single transition-metal catalysis under visible-light irradiation, which has been successfully applied to the cross-coupling reaction of aryl halides with carboxylic acids. The ligand allows the use of different aryl halides and light wavelengths for the reaction. Experimental and theoretical studies reveal that photoinduced electron transfer promotes the reductive elimination reaction in the excited state.

Palladium-Catalyzed β-C(sp3)-H Nitrooxylation of Ketones and Amides Using Practical Oxidants

Yuan Xue et al.

Summary: In this study, a Pd(II)-catalyzed beta-C(sp(3))-H nitrooxylation of ketones and native amides was reported. The use of fine-tuned removable aminooxyamide auxiliary enabled beta-C(sp(3))-H functionalization of various aliphatic ketones. Palladacycle intermediates were isolated to elucidate the reaction mechanism for ketones C(sp(3))-H activation with the L,X-type imino-amide directing group.
