Solvent-Independent Molecular Weight Determination of Polymers Based on a Truly Universal Calibration

Summary: DOSY spectroscopy enables accurate molecular weight calibration and determination, correcting for solvent influences and showing high correlation between data when bulk solvent viscosity is considered. By using polystyrene and poly(ethylene glycol) standards, a universal calibration method can be introduced for determining average molecular weight as accurately as traditional size-exclusion chromatography (SEC), if not better. Additionally, DOSY calibrations can be used across different laboratories, eliminating the need for individual setup calibrations.
