Speciation of Inorganic Mercury Compounds in Solid Samples via Thermo-desorption Experiments

Isabelle Kloefer et al.

Summary: A standardized method for specifying mercury in solid samples was established using thermo-desorption to create a database of relevant mercury species. Different evaporation characteristics of mercury species were recorded, with mercury halides desublimating when heated and having a vapor pressure as a solid. This unique characteristic was only seen in mercury halides, while other species decompose into their single components when heated.
