Simultaneous growth of graphene/mesoporous silica composites using liquid precursor for HPLC separations

Hui Qian et al.

Summary: Silica intercalated graphene-silica composites were prepared via one-step hydrothermal method without the need for prior synthesis of graphene or the use of graphite as a carbon source. The influence of organic solvent type, hydrothermal reaction temperature, and calcination temperature on the structure of the composites was studied. The composites were characterized and proposed for use as stationary phase in high performance liquid chromatograph separation, effectively separating hydrocarbon mixtures under reversed phase conditions.

Preparation and evaluation of a poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) derived graphene quantum dots based hydrophilic interaction and reversed-phase mixed-mode stationary phase for complex sample analysis

Qiurong Luo et al.

Summary: The study polymerized poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) onto the surface of graphene quantum dots (GQDs) functionalized silica as packing materials, demonstrating a column with reversed-phase and hydrophilic interaction modes for separating target analytes with different Log P values. The Sil-GQDs-PNIPAAm stationary phase shows potential for improving the analysis range and performance of traditional phases.

Fabrication of Graphene-Coated Silica Particles for Polymer Chromatography to Quantify Chemical Composition Distribution of Polyolefin Materials

Rongjuan Cong et al.

Summary: Polyolefins are widely consumed synthetic polymers known for their tunable performance at low production costs. This study focuses on high-temperature thermal gradient interactive chromatography (HT-TGIC) to improve separation resolution by enhancing the stationary phase with core-shell particles. These innovative particles, consisting of nonporous silica as the core and graphene nanopowder as the shell, show improved chromatographic performance compared to existing HT-TGIC columns.
