This article presents miniaturized dual-band dielectric waveguide (DW) filters and phase shifter based on multimode resonator (MMR). The shape of the MMR, chosen as a cube, allows for a miniaturized structure. Through the analysis of a single MMR, dual-band working is achieved in the proposed dielectric filters. The designed, manufactured, and measured examples of two MMRs demonstrate good agreement between measured, theoretical, and simulated results. The improved filter shows excellent filtering function in both frequency bands with good out-of-band performance. Lastly, the two DW filters are employed to compose a dual-band phase shifter.
In this article, miniaturized dual-band dielectric waveguide (DW) filters and phase shifter based on multimode resonator (MMR) are presented. The shape of the MMR is chosen as a cube, which means the physical sizes in the x-, y-, and z-direction are the same. The single MMR (single cavity) is analyzed in detail. Based on the analysis of the single cavity, the proposed dielectric filters can achieve dual-band working with a miniaturized structure. For demonstration, two examples composed of two MMRs are designed, manufactured, and measured. The measured results are in good agreement with the theoretical and simulated results. The measured results of the improved one with two transmission zeros (TZs) show that the manufactured DW filter can achieve an outstanding filtering function in both two bands with good out-of-band performance. At last, the two DW filters are employed to compose a dual-band phase shifter.
