Dependency of polyacrylonitrile membrane structures on Hansen solubility parameters during non-solvent induced phase separation

Jin Li et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the preparation of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) based membranes using non-solvent induced phase separation (NIPS) method. The relationships between coagulation conditions, membrane structures, and Hansen solubility parameters are thoroughly analyzed. It is found that the Hansen solubility distance (R-a) between PAN and coagulant has a significant impact on the phase separation and pore growth, while the sol-gel transition of PAN solution also affects the pore structures of the resultant membranes.
