Lithiophilic N-doped carbon bowls induced Li deposition in layered graphene film for advanced lithium metal batteries

Xiaoyu Feng et al.

Summary: Our research demonstrates a highly stable and dendrite-free Li metal anode achieved by using N-doped hard carbon/reduced graphene nano sheets as a 3D conductive and lithiophilic scaffold host. The lithiophilic carbon bowl acts as an excellent guide during Li plating, while the high conductivity and mechanical stability of the rGO layer maintain the integrity of the composite, resulting in low lithium metal nucleation overpotential and high Coulombic efficiency.

Liquid Exfoliated SnP3 Nanosheets for Very High Areal Capacity Lithium-Ion Batteries

Ruiyuan Tian et al.

Summary: The liquid phase exfoliation technique is used to produce nanosheets of SnP3, a 2D material with high theoretical capacity for use in lithium storing anodes, achieving close to theoretical value in terms of active-mass-normalized capacities. Incorporating carbon nanotubes into the electrodes enhances conductivity and toughness, allowing for the production of electrodes with high specific and areal capacities, good rate performance, and stability. Full-cells fabricated with commercial cathode materials show near-record energy densities with areal capacities of approximately 29 mAh cm(-2).
