COMPARISON BETWEEN SCLERAL BUCKLING AND VITRECTOMY IN THE ONSET OF CYSTOID MACULAR EDEMA AND EPIRETINAL MEMBRANE AFTER RHEGMATOGENOUS RETINAL DETACHMENT REPAIR

M. A. G. D. A. GHARBIYA et al.

Summary: A retrospective study found that the incidence of cystoid macular edema (CME) was lower in patients with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment treated with scleral buckling (SB) compared to pars plana vitrectomy (PPV). Age was found to be correlated with the development of epiretinal membrane.

Summary: Visual acuity improved as the number of eyes with SD-OCT lesions decreased after macula-off rhegmatogenous retinal detachment surgery. A long time to surgery was the only preoperative factor associated with poor visual acuity recovery after retinal detachment surgery.
