A Structural Interpretation Model and Restoration of the Mesozoic Proto-basin for the Kuqa Depression, Tarim Basin

Jiafu Qi et al.

Summary: The study establishes a structural interpretation model of the Kuqa Depression and reconstructs the Mesozoic proto-basin based on geological, seismic, well-log and CEMP data. The model, called 'delaminate contractional deformation', emphasizes the decoupling between different geological layers within the depression. The model has a shortening amount of 12 to 16 km and the depth involved in contractional deformation ranges from 21 to 28 km.

Structural Variation between the Western and Eastern Kuqa Fold-and-thrust Belt, China: Insights from Seismic Interpretation and Analog Modeling

Wei Wang et al.

Summary: The study presents detailed seismic interpretations and analog modeling to understand the structures in the transfer zone of Kuqa fold-and-thrust belt and the influence of salt layers. The results show that the relationship between the two salt layers changes from separated to connected, forming different structural models. The relationship between suprasalt and subsalt structures has an impact on hydrocarbon accumulation.

Hydrothermal Fluids and Cold Meteoric Waters along Tectonic-Controlled Open Spaces in Upper Cretaceous Carbonate Rocks, NE-Iraq: Scanning Data from In Situ U-Pb Geochronology and Microthermometry

Namam Salih et al.

Summary: The research suggests that Upper Cretaceous carbonates along the Zagros thrust-fold belt Harir-Safin anticlines were influenced by extensive hot brine fluids resulting in the formation of saddle dolomites. Additionally, detailed fluid inclusion microthermometry data indicates two entrapment episodes of early and late fluid inclusions, linked to fault-related fractures and low saline fluids respectively.

Triassic evaporites: a vast reservoir of brines mobilized successively during rifting and thrusting in the Pyrenees

M. Cathelineau et al.

Summary: Triassic evaporites in the Pyrenees represent a significant chlorine and brine reservoir, influencing fault activity and fluid-rock interactions during tectonic events. Brines with varying salinity, originating from seawater infiltration and meteoric origin, played a crucial role in mass and heat transfer throughout the orogenic cycle in the Pyrenees.
