Mn doped Prussian blue nanoparticles for T1/T2 MR imaging, PA imaging and Fenton reaction enhanced mild temperature photothermal therapy of tumor

Quan Tao et al.

Summary: This study prepared innovative Mn-doped Prussian blue nanoparticles (MnPB NPs) via a microemulsion method. MnPB NPs demonstrated excellent T-1 and T-2 weighted MRI enhancement and strong absorbance in the near infrared range, making them suitable for photothermal therapy and photoacoustics imaging in tumor treatment. Moreover, MnPB NPs showed excellent chemodynamic therapy activity. Overall, MnPB NPs have positive effectiveness in integrating tumor diagnosis and treatment.

Prodrug nanoparticles rationally integrating stroma modification and chemotherapy to treat metastatic pancreatic cancer

Liying Wang et al.

Summary: The study developed self-assembled prodrug nanoparticles combining a stromal reprogramming inducer, calcipotriol (CAL), and a potent chemotherapeutic agent, 7-Ethyl-10-hydroxycamptothecin (SN38), to effectively treat PDAC. These nanoparticles significantly improved the blood circulation time of CAL and decreased the expression of N-cadherin, collagen, and fibronectin in tumors, demonstrating strong anti-tumor and anti-metastasis effects.

Platinum-Doped Prussian Blue Nanozymes for Multiwavelength Bioimaging Guided Photothermal Therapy of Tumor and Anti-Inflammation

Zi-Hao Li et al.

Summary: This study developed platinum-doped Prussian blue (PtPB) nanozymes with tunable spectral absorption, high photothermal conversion efficiency, and antioxidative catalytic activity, providing a new paradigm for designing safe and efficient photothermal agents for complex tumor diseases. The PtPB nanozymes exhibited tunable LSPR frequency, significantly enhanced photothermal conversion efficiency, and good biosafety after intravenous injection. The experimental and theoretical results revealed the mechanisms behind the enhanced photothermal conversion efficiency of PtPB with tunable LSPR frequency.

Maintaining manganese in tumor to activate cGAS-STING pathway evokes a robust abscopal anti-tumor effect

Chao Wang et al.

Summary: Synchronizing Mn2+ delivery with accumulated cytosolic DNA after radiotherapy can promote the activation of the cGAS-STING pathway and enhance antitumor immunity. This strategy can achieve over 90% inhibition rate even in unirradiated tumors, providing a simple and novel approach to effectively activate the immune response in tumors.

A tumor microenvironment responsive nanosystem for chemodynamic/chemical synergistic theranostics of colorectal cancer

Liying Wang et al.

Summary: This study presents a tumor microenvironment-responsive nanosystem for chemodynamic/chemical synergistic therapy and magnetic resonance imaging. The nanosystem improves the cycling time and solubility of chemotherapeutic drugs, releasing them gradually in tumor tissues through glutathione-triggered biodegradation. With improved generation of reactive oxygen species and controlled release of the chemotherapeutic drug, it shows excellent inhibition of tumor growth in colorectal cancer models.

Mn3+-rich oxide/persistent luminescence nanoparticles achieve light-free generation of singlet oxygen and hydroxyl radicals for responsive imaging and tumor treatment

Dandan Ding et al.

Summary: By decomposing the MnOx shell in the tumor region to produce Mn3+ and oxygen, this study demonstrates enhanced XEPL and MR imaging for accurate diagnosis of deep tumors. Furthermore, the method efficiently inhibits tumor growth by producing singlet oxygen and highly toxic hydroxyl radicals through a self-supplied oxygen effect.
