Pinhole-seeded lateral epitaxy and exfoliation of GaSb films on graphene-terminated surfaces

Sebastian Manzo et al.

Summary: Remote epitaxy is a promising method for synthesizing thin films on lattice-mismatched substrates, but its mechanisms are still unclear. In this study, the authors demonstrate that pinhole defects in graphene can serve as selective nucleation sites for the growth of GaSb films. By introducing nanoscale openings in graphene, the growth and properties of 2D material masks can be controlled.

Magnetotransport Study of van der Waals CrPS4/(Pt, Pd) Heterostructures: Spin-Flop Transition and Room-Temperature Anomalous Hall Effect

Rui Wu et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigated magnetotransport in heterostructures composed of the van der Waals antiferromagnet CrPS4 and the heavy metals Pt and Pd. The results showed that both types of devices exhibited the spin-flop transition of CrPS4 and a strong anomalous Hall effect. The CrPS4/Pd devices, in particular, demonstrated a more significant enhancement in the anomalous Hall effect at temperatures above 70 K and displayed a topological Hall effect signal, possibly associated with chiral spin structures at the interface.

Strong (110) Texturing and Heteroepitaxial Growth of Thin Mo Films on MoS2 Monolayer

Jun-young Kim et al.

Summary: By optimizing the physical vapor deposition parameters of Mo, textured and low-resistivity Mo films were obtained on CVD-grown MoS2 monolayers. The presence of a local epitaxial relationship between (110)-Mo and (0001)-MoS2, as well as the atomic-scale flatness of the MoS2 surface, contributed to the strong texturing and layer-by-layer growth of the Mo film. The deposited Mo/MoS2 stack can be easily peeled-off from the substrate, enabling potential transfers onto arbitrary substrates.
