Rapid self-healing capability as a metric for flexible spacing coating toward macroscopic supramolecular assembly of rigid building blocks

Qian Zhang et al.

Summary: The study finds that self-healing phenomena can be used to judge whether a film can be a flexible spacing coating for macroscopic supramolecular assembly (MSA) of rigid materials. The metric is applied to different film systems and proven effective in designing coatings for MSA, which is applied in advanced manufacturing.

Assembly of Defect-Free Microgel Nanomembranes for CO2 Separation

Yu Hoshino et al.

Summary: The development of defect-free hydrogel nanomembranes for CO2 separation is achieved through the autonomous assembly of deformable microgels, allowing water penetration to assist in forming a dense hydrogel layer. Membranes composed of amine-containing microgel particles exhibit selective CO2 permeation, showing potential for low-cost carbon capture from post-combustion gases and atmospheric air.

Programmable Color in a Free-Standing Photonic Microgel Film with Ultra-Fast Response

Zhujun Zeng et al.

Summary: A programmable and angle-independent structural color free-standing microgel film was prepared using crosslinked stabilized microgels, displaying tunable color with rapid responses to temperature and pH. Stripes with chameleon-like color changing ability were successfully fabricated through patterning microgels with different thermoresponsivities. The ultrafast response of the microgel film to temperature and pH was much quicker than previously reported optical materials.

Macroscopic Supramolecular Assembly Strategy to Construct 3D Biocompatible Microenvironments with Site-Selective Cell Adhesion

Changyu Wang et al.

Summary: Three-dimensional scaffolds with chemical diversity play a significant role in directing cell adhesion and controlling cell fates. The concept of macroscopic supramolecular assembly shows promise in fabricating 3D structures with internal chemical diversity for site-selective cell adhesion. The spatial distribution of chiral molecules has been proven effective in directing selective cell adhesion for different cell lines.
