NUMERICAL INVESTIGATION ON EFFECT OF TARGET COOLANT DELIVERY IN LIQUID-COOLED MICROCHANNEL HEAT SINKS

Pardeep Shahi et al.

Summary: The rising demand for high-performance processors and increased difficulty in thermal management have led to the need for advanced cooling technologies like direct-to-chip liquid cooling. This study proposes a dynamic cold plate design to solve the issue of nonuniform heat distribution across the processor. By using computational fluid dynamics modeling, the thermal performance of the proposed cold plate design is analyzed, showing a maximum reduction of 42% in thermal resistance and 62% in temperature difference compared to the baseline design.

From Molecules to Polymers-Harnessing Inter- and Intramolecular Interactions to Create Mechanochromic Materials

Hanna Traeger et al.

Summary: The development of mechanophores as building blocks enables the creation of mechanoresponsive and mechanochromic polymer materials for various applications. These materials can detect applied mechanical stresses and strains without breaking covalent bonds, showing reversible and highly sensitive visual mapping of stresses and damage. The design of such materials involves alterations in molecules and polymers without relying on the scission of covalent bonds.

Summary: A series of novel BODIPY derivatives were prepared, with the 2-pyrrolylethenyl-substituted molecules showing high fluorescence quantum yields and near-IR emission. These molecules are relatively insensitive to solvent polarity, and alkylation enables the production of amphiphilic derivatives for potential applications in near-IR imaging.

Rotaxane-Based Dual Function Mechanophores Exhibiting Reversible and Irreversible Responses

Tatsuya Muramatsu et al.

Summary: The article introduces rotaxane-based supramolecular mechanophores that exhibit both reversible and irreversible fluorescence changes, triggered by exploiting molecular shuttling and force-induced dethreading. The design allows the luminophore to slide away from the quencher when force is applied, resulting in fluorescence, but if the force is too high, irreversible changes occur when the luminophore-carrying ring slips past the stopper and dethreading happens.
