Quantitative insight into aluminum structures in CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 system via Raman and 27Al MAS-NMR spectroscopies

Rui Zhang et al.

Summary: A comprehensive study of the structural properties of CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 systems was conducted using Raman and MAS-NMR spectroscopies, revealing that CaO can promote the transformation of aluminum structures from six-coordinated to four- and five-coordinated states, with a stronger depolymerization effect, especially on [AlO4]-tetrahedrons. Additionally, non-bridging oxygen numbers per coordinated atom (NBO/T) corresponding to the transition of aluminum speciation were obtained, providing insights into the structural changes in the materials.

Improvement of thermal stability and photoluminescence in Mg2Y2Al2Si2O12:Ce3+ by the cation substitution of Ca2+, Sr2+ and Ba2+ ions

Chunjing Tao et al.

Summary: The luminescence of Ce3+ in MgYAlSiO can be controlled by substituting with Ca2+, Sr2+, and Ba2+ ions, resulting in blue shifts in emission spectra. The introduction of larger radius ions decreases crystal distortion, increases structural rigidity and stability, leading to improved quantum efficiency and temperature stability. LED with luminous efficiency of 60 lm W-1 has been obtained by packaging fluorescent powder and blue chip, indicating the potential application value of MgYAlSiO:Ce3+ phosphor in white LEDs.
