The effect of the donor moiety of DPP based polymers on the performance of organic electrochemical transistors

Yazhou Wang et al.

Summary: Organic mixed charge conductors are crucial for bioelectronic devices, and polymers with efficient mixed charge transport are limited. This study developed two D-A type polymers based on TDPP as the acceptor unit, with different donor units to tune the film's microstructure. The results showed that using a donor unit with higher electron-donating power can significantly affect the mixed conduction performance of the polymers, leading to superior OECTs performance.

Engineering donor-acceptor conjugated polymers for high-performance and fast-response organic electrochemical transistors†

Hanyu Jia et al.

Summary: High-performance organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) using donor-acceptor (D-A) conjugated polymers show promising potential, but their performance lags behind polythiophene systems. By engineering the backbone and side chain of a series of diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP)-based D-A polymers, researchers achieved improved performance with high figure-of-merit and fast response time. This work highlights the complexity and systematic approach required for developing high-performance OECTs based on D-A polymers.
