X-ray Dating of a Turin Shroud's Linen Sample

Liberato De Caro et al.

Summary: A new method using Wide-Angle X-ray Scattering (WAXS) was applied to date ancient linen threads on the Turin Shroud. The results suggest that the shroud is much older than previously believed, aligning with the hypothesis that it is a 2000-year-old relic.

Thermal Comfort in Places of Worship within a Mediterranean Climate

Robert C. Vella et al.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between actual thermal comfort levels and expected thermal comfort in parish churches, finding a significant correlation and highlighting the benefits of passive design measures in improving indoor thermal conditions and reducing energy demand. The research provides valuable insights for decision-making methods and practical applications of passive measures for places of worship.

the seasonal variations of soil in the Arctic coasts

Mohammad Akhsanul Islam et al.

Summary: This study examines methods to interpolate, hindcast, and forecast temperature within the active layer and shallow permafrost of the Arctic coasts, using a data-driven model based on simplified analytical solutions derived from boundary conditions. Model parameters are calibrated from field measurements and validated, allowing for accurate hindcasting and forecasting of soil temperature variations.
