Video-polysomnography procedures for diagnosis of rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (RBD) and the identification of its prodromal stages: guidelines from the International RBD Study Group

Matteo Cesari et al.

Summary: Video-polysomnography (v-PSG) is essential for diagnosing rapid eye movement (REM) sleep behavior disorder (RBD). Restless legs syndrome severity in the National RLS Opioid Registry during the COVID-19 pandemic

Benjamin Wipper et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates an increase in restless legs syndrome (RLS) symptom severity during the early stage of the COVID-19 pandemic. Patients with worsened RLS symptoms were significantly more likely to experience increased sleep disturbance, depression, and anxiety. These findings provide a basis for future investigations in other patient populations and suggest that clinicians should pay attention to RLS symptoms during times of socioeconomic and/or political uncertainty.

Video-polysomnographic findings after acute COVID-19: REM sleep without atonia as sign of CNS pathology?

Heidbreder Anna et al.

Summary: In a series of eleven patients after acute COVID-19, videopolysomnographic findings revealed obstructive sleep apnea and rapid eye movement sleep without atonia (RWA), a recognized prodromal stage of rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (RBD). Future videopolysomnographic investigations could provide more insights into possible acute or post-infectious central nervous system pathology related to SARS-CoV-2 infection.
