Functionalization Enhancement on Interfacial Properties Between Graphene and ZnO NW/Epoxy: A Molecular Dynamics Simulation Study

Parisa Marashizadeh et al.

Summary: This study presents atomistic characterization of the interfacial properties of fiber matrix in hybrid functionalized carbon fiber reinforced polymer composites. By employing molecular dynamics simulation technique, the interfacial strength and cohesive energy of functionalized models are found to be significantly enhanced. The impact of carboxyl functional group on traction-separation response is the most significant. Comparing different structures, it is found that adding ZnO nanowire can compensate for the grafting effect. Combining the growth of ZnO nanowire and functionalization can greatly enhance the interfacial strength of carbon fiber composites in both opening and sliding modes.

Experimental Characterization Framework for SLA Additive Manufacturing Materials

Jordi Martin-Montal et al.

Summary: Additive manufacturing (AM) has revolutionized the industry by allowing engineers and designers to optimize designs without long manufacturing times, but limitations in materials and mechanical properties of 3D printed parts hinder large-scale production. Experimental methodology framework proposed in this study aims to study materials printed by stereolithography (SLA) to broaden their use, while exploring the influence of different printing parameters on material behavior. Testing specimens were manufactured using Form 2 from Formlabs(R) with resin called Durable, providing insights for future research on other resins.

Effect of Post-Process Curing and Washing Time on Mechanical Properties of mSLA Printouts

Bartlomiej Nowacki et al.

Summary: The study explores the impact of post-processing on the mechanical properties of elements produced using mask stereolithography, showing that post-curing time strongly affects tensile and bending strength, and improves surface quality. Washing has an uncertain effect on strength, but extending washing time slightly reduces strength. Additionally, washing significantly impacts printout surface quality.
