Summary: Decoding and language comprehension are moderately related and together explain a significant amount of the variance in reading comprehension; meta-linguistic skills contribute significantly to decoding but not directly to reading comprehension; grade level plays a significant role in explaining the relationship between decoding and reading comprehension, particularly before Grade 2.
