Determinants of Farmers' Awareness and Adoption of Extension Recommended Wheat Varieties in the Rainfed Areas of Pakistan

Ayat Ullah et al.

Summary: Scientific evidence suggests that increasing food production through the adoption of modern agricultural practices by farmers can help eradicate poverty and hunger. This study explores the relationship between farmers' awareness and adoption of improved wheat varieties in Pakistan. The results show that farmers' awareness is influenced by factors such as extension contacts, income from agriculture, and access to credit, while education and household size negatively affect their awareness. Factors such as extension contact, confidence in extension services, risk-bearing attitude, and credit access positively influence farmers' decision to adopt the technology.

Understanding Smallholder Farmers' Intention to Adopt Agricultural Apps: The Role of Mastery Approach and Innovation Hubs in Mexico

Janet Molina-Maturano et al.

Summary: This study focused on the adoption of agricultural advice apps among smallholder farmers in Guanajuato, Mexico, using a survey of 394 farmers. The study found that farmers' intention to adopt the app is influenced by their evaluation of technical infrastructure and knowledge acquisition through the app. Performance expectancy was identified as a key predictor of adoption intention, with younger farmers and those not connected to innovation hubs placing more emphasis on mastery-approach goals. The findings highlight the importance of innovation hubs in influencing farmers' intention to adopt digital decision support tools in developing countries.

Determining the Factors That Influence Electric Vehicle Adoption: A Stated Preference Survey Study in Beijing, China

Ziwen Ling et al.

Summary: The study found that males and higher household income are associated with a greater willingness to purchase electric vehicles, while a previous inclination towards conventional vehicles negatively impacts the intention to buy electric vehicles. Among specific types of electric vehicles, the purchase of Plug-in Hybrid EVs was negatively correlated with plans to obtain a driver's license in the near future, while the number of electric bicycles in the household positively influenced the likelihood of purchasing this type of vehicle. Additionally, previous experience with an electric vehicle increased the likelihood of purchasing a Battery EV, while existing ownership of a driver's license and a higher purchase budget reduced this possibility.
