Risk, uncertainty and ambiguity amid Covid-19: A multi-national analysis of international travel intentions

Allan M. Williams et al.

Summary: This study examines the impact of COVID-19 on individuals' international tourism intentions in the context of bounded rationality. It provides a unique analysis of risk, disaggregated into tolerance/aversion and competence to manage risks in various aspects. The study finds that different risk factors significantly predict individuals' intentions to defer international tourism plans during COVID-19, and intolerance towards uncertainty and ambiguity leads to a preference for taking holidays sooner rather than delaying them.
