Production of a novel poly(e-caprolactone)-methylcellulose electrospun wound dressing by incorporating bioactive glass and Manuka honey

Katharina Schuhladen et al.

Summary: In this study, wound dressings with fibrous structure similar to the extracellular matrix of the skin were produced using electrospinning technology. The incorporation of Manuka honey and bioactive glass particles in the fiber mats resulted in improved antibacterial activity and potential for wound healing support. Further optimization is needed to develop suitable wound dressings for infected wounds.

Durable Antibacterial and Antifungal Hierarchical Silver-Embedded Poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) Fabricated Using Electrospinning

Avinash Baji et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the production of hierarchical fibrous structures filled with silver nanoparticles using electrospinning for antibacterial and antifungal applications. The hierarchical PVDF-HFP fibers exhibited higher wettability and superior antibacterial and antifungal performance compared to PVDF-HFP fibers filled with Ag NPs. The slow release of silver ions from the fibers contributed to their strong and long-lasting antibacterial and antifungal properties, showing potential for various applications such as air filtration, water treatment, and protective clothing.
