Performance Analysis of Predictive Association Rule Classifiers using Healthcare Datasets

M. Nandhini et al.

Summary: In recent years, the use of data mining techniques in healthcare applications has become increasingly significant. This study explores suitable attribute selection and error estimate measures for the CPAR algorithm, resulting in an efficient rule-based classifier. Through experiments and statistical tests, the performance of CPAR-GR and CPAR-IG are compared to the existing CPAR algorithm in terms of classifier accuracy.

Malaria detection using deep residual networks with mobile microscopy

P. A. Pattanaik et al.

Summary: Automatic segmentation of erythrocytes in microscopic blood smear phone images is an important step in malaria identification. To address the challenges posed by experts scarcity and low image quality, the authors propose an efficient multi-magnification deep residual neural network (MM-ResNet) that can automatically classify infected and non-infected cells. Experimental results show that the MM-ResNet achieves similar or higher accuracy compared to baseline architectures.

NGDNet: Nonuniform Gaussian-label distribution learning for infrared head pose estimation and on-task behavior understanding in the classroom

Tingting Liu et al.

Summary: The paper introduces a novel nonuniform Gaussian-label distribution learning network (NGDNet) for head pose estimation under active infrared illumination, which improves accuracy by revealing the essential properties of head pose images and determining distribution size based on similarity to adjacent hand poses. Experimental results show that the model achieves outstanding performance on several datasets.

Label Distribution Learning with Label Correlations on Local Samples

Xiuyi Jia et al.

Summary: Two novel label distribution learning algorithms, GD-LDL-SCL and Adam-LDL-SCL, are proposed in this study to leverage label correlations on local samples, showing superior performance compared to state-of-the-art methods. By exploiting the local correlations between instances in different groups, these algorithms effectively address label distribution problems, which are more suitable for real-world tasks than globally applicable label correlations.

Fragmentary label distribution learning via graph regularized maximum entropy criteria

Chao Xu et al.

Summary: Label distribution learning (LDL) is a new learning paradigm that can handle label ambiguity but also increases labeling costs and difficulties. This paper proposes a fragmentary LDL algorithm based on Graph Regularized Maximum Entropy criteria to address incomplete labeling information, and its effectiveness is verified through experiments on real-world data sets with different settings.
